Osmylus fulvicephalus (Scopoli, 1763)
Distribution
British and Irish distribution of Osmylus fulvicephalus (Scopoli, 1763) based on records held by the National Biodiversity Network.
Widespread, although becoming less common in the north-east, Osmylus fulvicephalus (Scopoli, 1763) is found in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Easily recognizable being the largest lacewing (aside from Euroleon nostras (Fourcro, 1785) from which it is easily distinguised) at 25mm. It can be found in shaded areas surrounding water from May to August, the larvae living in damp leaf litter.
